Skill Level: Intermediate
This pattern is my alteration/variation of the swirly rose pattern.
A german translation can be found here (registration needed).
Materials:
Sport Weight Wool Yarn
3.50mm hook
Yarn Needle
Glossary (US terms:
ch = chain
st = stitch
ss = slip stitch
sc = single crochet
hdc = half double crochet
dc = double crochet
tr = treble/triple crochet
Pattern Notes:
There are two different versions of this heart floating around online; thanks to me :(
The spiral of the pink one has about 1/2 more rotations to it than the purple one. The purple one was made with a slightly heavier yarn (dk) and a larger hook (4.25mm). I've tried to reproduce the purple one exactly, but can't get it just yet. I'm hoping to maybe locate the original and take it apart. Until then, I only have the pattern for the pink. My apologies.
Rounds are not joined unless noted otherwise. Blocking is imperative for shaping.
Pattern:
Make a magic ring, ch 2 (counts as the first dc)
Rounds 1-3 are the wrong side.
Round 1: Make (7dc) in ring and pull tight.
Round 2: 2 front post (fp) dc around each dc (including ch2 after magic ring) of first round (16dc)
Round 3: Make 1 fp dc and 1 fp trc around first fp dc, 2 fp trc around each of next 2st, 2 fp dc around (next 2st), 2 fp hdc around next st, 2 fp sc around next st, (2 fp hdc, 1 fp dc) around next st, 2 fp hdc around next st, 2 fp sc around next st, 2 fp hdc around next st, 2 fp dc around (next 2 st), 2 fp trc around each of next 2st, (1 fp trc, 1 fp dc, ch3, fp slip stitch) around last st, ch1 turn and turn the heart over
[(33) stitches+3ch+ss]
Round 4 (Right Side) 3sc around 3ch, you do this by inserting the hook under the chain like so:
draw up a loop
now complete your single crochet by yarning over and drawing through both loops on the hook
make two more single crochets this way
1sc in next 7 stitches (because you are working on the right side now, you will make the first sc into the first ch of the ch3 you made), ss in next (9) stitches, 3sc in next stitch, ss in next (9) stitches, cut yarn and fasten off.
(A) While holding heart with right side facing you and pointed end to the left, attach yarn to very first dc in center of spiral,
ch1 and make one sc in same dc, 1sc in next (22) st, 1hdc in next 7st, (1hdc, ss) in next st, fasten off.
With right side facing, attach yarn to first sc you made around 3ch, ch1 and sc in same st, 1hdc in next (19)st, 3sc in front loop of next st, 1hdc in next (10)st, cut yarn and fasten off by pulling yarn back through and out of loop on hook. Invisibly join to last hdc of (A). Weave in ends.
Block:
Spray with water and shape by pinching pointed end and opening up inner spiral throughout drying period.
Happy Heartful Crafting,
Mia

Wanted to follow your blog but couldn't figure out how. I've followed your pins and friended you on Ravelry instead :) I love your heart pattern.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry about that, I've since added the "follow" gadget to this blog (thank you!). I look forward to your friendship on ravelry, I'll see you around on pinterest and I'm so glad you like the heart.

Please do, I look forward to seeing your project.
ReplyDeleteHappy Heartful Crafting!
Mia
I lobe this heart I tried it in worsted weight, it sorta looks like your heart but not really.. I found it a little confusing. Yours looks so,fantastic I think these would be fab as brooches especially for valentines day.. Is there anyway you could add some pictures on the blog of how to,do it or do a you tube video? I really want to make theses the correct way, it's ingenious.... Thanks
ReplyDeleteHi Debbie,
DeleteI am so sorry the pattern is confusing. I am reviewing the pattern while using a worsted weight yarn and will share my results with you shortly. I will try to post pictures for this pattern sometime soon, too. I am glad you like the rosy heart and look forward to helping you make and enjoy some of your own.
Heartfully Yours,
Mia
Hi Mia, thanks so much for the pattern, I'm a bit stuck after round 4, I wonder could you do a photo of where you rejoin the yarn for A? Really love it and want to make lots!!
ReplyDeleteHi Kathryn,
ReplyDeleteYou are quite welcome, I am so glad you like it. Yes, I will post a photo of that part soon. You are referring to part (A) of round 4, correct? In the meantime,
Happy Heartful Crafting,
Mia
Is there anyway you could change the pattern to a knitting pattern for those who don't crochet?
ReplyDeleteI am sorry to say my knitting skills aren't there yet. I will certainly give it a try once my skills are a little better.
ReplyDeleteHeartfully Yours,
Mia
cute heart! just came across your site somehow.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, I'm glad you like it.
DeleteHeartfully Yours,
Mia
Lovely heart crochet - I'm going to have a go at this later on today. Thanks for posting the pattern.
ReplyDeleteSally
You're welcome Sally and thank you for stopping by. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteHeartfully Yours,
Mia
hi there at round four what is meant by 3sc around 3ch. sorry im verry new to Crocheting and im a little confused :)
ReplyDeleteAt this point you should make three single crochet stitches into/around the chain of three you just made. After you are finished all three single crochet stitches, the single crochet stitches should cover the chain. I will post some pics. My apologies for the confusion and thank you for the question.
ReplyDeleteHeartfully Yours,
Mia
Hi Mia, what a cute heart! I have tried in earnest to make one (4x!) but cannot do it correctly :( I think I am confused with your term "wrong side" starting in round 2. Does this mean you turn your work and hook on the fp of the most recent stitches which were made in the previous round? Or does it simply mean to start new round, stitching in the bp instead of the fp of the new round? Or does it mean something else entirely? LOL! And do you continue to work on the "wrong side" until you reach round 4? Sorry for all these questions. I am not new to crocheting but for some reason I am stumped with this one. Thank you so much!
ReplyDeleteBelieve me when I say it's not you, it's me. I'm so sorry you tried four times. I'm finding I'm horrible at thie pattern writing thing. My apologies again to everyone trying to follow my instructions. I should have said rounds 1-3 are the back side of the heart. Once you finish the last slip stitch of round three you chain 1 then turn and flip the heart. Sorry. Hope this helps. PLease ask more questions if you need to.
ReplyDeleteHeartfully Yours,
Mia
Thanks so much! I will try again. No worries. I am glad you are even sharing the pattern for such an adorable heart. :)
ReplyDeletehi
ReplyDeletemany thanks for this wonderful pattern. I was looking for interlocking crochet and found your heart. I can use it in my freestyle crochet hat.

Hi Mia, looove your rosy heart!!! Your pattern is perfect (I just made two for testing). But definitely is not for beginners :D
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing it.
Hugs!!!
You are very welcome, I'm happy to hear you tried it and it worked for you. I'm aiming to get better at writing patterns. i should note that it's not for beginners. Thank You.
ReplyDeleteHearts,
Mia
dear Mia,
ReplyDeletejust a question: does the first row end with a SS to close, or it remains open?
Thanks from Italy!!
Silvia
Hi Silvia from Italy!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for stopping by.
The round remains open. Sorry I didn't make that clear. Thank you for asking, I will make that note on the pattern.
Hearts,
Mia
Dear Mia,
ReplyDeleteThank you for the pattern! I want to I love your designs and appreciate your willingness to share them.
I am new to magic ring, and everything I see online tells me how to make one with single crochet. For round 1, do I chain 3 then do 7 dc, or would the chain 3 count as one of them?
Hope to hear from you soon,
Dominic
Hi Dominic!
ReplyDeleteYou are quite welcome. The chain 2 you make after making the magic ring (via the link) counts as the first dc. I'm so sorry for not saying that. Thanks so much for bringing it to my attention. I hope this helps.
Heartfully Yours,
Mia
So, to confirm: I make a magic loop with six sc, then ch 2 and start my 7 dc?
DeleteAlso, I'm really proud of you for writing patterns. I tend to over-think them for cloth, so I'm not sure how to even start writing one for yarn crafts.
Thanks Again Dominic, It is most definitely a learning process, now I see why people use pattern testers before they post patterns. If it weren't for all of the questions people have asked, this pattern would be even more difficult to follow than it aleady is. So I truly appreciate each and every question. I so want people to enjoy these things as much as I do. To finally get to answering your question; after you loop the yarn and chain 1 to make your magic loop, you then chain 2 more for a total of 3 chains (these three chains count as your first double crochet). You will now make 7 more double crochets into the loop for a total of 8 dc's (remembering the chain 3 counts as your first).
DeleteHope this helps and if you have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask.
Hearts,
Mia
This pattern is not very well written. I have had to rip it out 4 times and I still am not sure how to make it look the way it does in the first picture. You should really explain better.
ReplyDeleteMy apologies, I know the pattern needs work. I now know I should have had it tested. I have been trying to make it clearer as I get questions. I would be glad to help you. Also, as I noted, if you haven't already, I recommend using wool and a 3.50mm hook. The heart should also be blocked in order to get the shaping. Again, my apologies.
ReplyDeleteHearts,
Mia
After the magic ring...do you go into the first dc? and What do you mean by flip the heart? I assumed it meant turn it over but I dont think that is what you meant...does it mean to turn it some way?
ReplyDeleteI am wearing out my yarn...lol...I have tried and tried but something just isn't working right....I LOVE the heart and can't give up...just need some more direction...maybe more pictures of the first 3 rows would help....thanks so much!
Hello!! Sorry you are having problems. Maybe this can help until I post more pics (let me know): After the magic ring (loops and chain1) you chain 2 (counts as first dc). You then make 7 dc into the magic loop for a total of 8dc including ch2. By flip the heart, I mean turn it over (sorry about that). This is beacause you willl working on the right side. Hope this helps.
ReplyDeleteHearts,
Mia
Thank you for the lovely pattern!! I have tried two times and it does not come out rigth. Can you rewrite the instructions again with all the corrections. It will be easier that way to follow them. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteYou're Welcome!! I have been over the pattern and have made corrections. Please let me know where it is you're encountering problems and hopefully I can help.
ReplyDeleteHeartfully Yours,
Mia
OK...I finally figured out how to work on the back side (with the help of my engineer husband...lol) and I have made a heart but I ended up with one extra curl and when I was completely finished (l hdc in next 8st)..I had 3 stitches left inbetween the end of A (l hdc, ss)and end of fastening off...this is day 2 of all day trying to make this!!! Crazy...but I can't stop til I've made one!!!! help please!!!!
ReplyDeleteI just finished going over the pattern again, please forgive me, I am new to pattern writing. I looked at the pictures and oh my goodness, they are different. I think the pink is the first one I made. I think I made changes after trying to follow my own not so great notes. I added some changes to the pattern. I'm glad you brought this to my attention, I am partial to the pink one myself.
DeleteThanks for sticking with me. I just love this little heart and thought others would to. 10 million hearts to you, Mia
I truly am cross eyed after working on this soooo long but I think the picture posted on Pinterest that links to your blog is different than the Rosy Heart picture you have posted...it has one less curl...am I truly losing it??? lol
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry, and please see my reply to the comment above.
DeleteHeartfully Yours,
Mia
I did it...I finally did it!!! Woooooohoo! If you want the heart to look like the Pinterest picture, you start in the 3 chain crochet which is the first one in the magic circle but then at the end of A you only have l HDC before the 1 HDC SS....I wish I knew how to send a picture because it's loverly! Pale pink wool....can't wait to make more!!!
ReplyDeleteMy advice to everyone struggling...stick with it...it is worth it and pretty simply once you master it. My biggest problem was the first FP crochet after the magic circle...you just work on the back side of the last stitch....I also retyped the Round 3 directions into individual lines... I would be happy to email to anyone...
Omg! please e-mail me the round 3 directions because that is where I am stumped! Veronica_saenz979@yahoo.com thank you soooo much!
Deleteif you could offer any insight that would be wonderful! my email is smile_13_03@hotmail.com. thank you so very much!
DeleteI have tried many times and can't get past row three. Also, not sure if I'm doing the beginning right. I have been crocheting for quite some time but this has me stumped. Please help! Need more detailed instruction and pictures if possible. Please e-mail me at mandyvargo@yahoo.com
DeleteOh could you please email me the pattern, I too am stumped and would love any instructions, tips and photos. Please email sarahmolawson@hotmail.com.

Hi, I'am new into this crochet world, I would love to make this one. I would love your instruction too. I only finished with 31 stitches on rd 3, did I do something wrong?
DeleteThanks in advance
yayaragil@yahoo.com
I am sooo happy you got it, no thanks to my instructions, lol. Please accept my apologies and Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteHeartfully Yours,

Thank you, thank you! I can't wait to make more!!!
ReplyDeletemia,um video ajudaria muito.nao consegui entender.obrigado.seu coraçao e muito lindo.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Unfortunately, I am unable to produce a video. Maybe I can help. Where are you having difficulties?
DeleteI finished the last stitch, held it up, and thought, "That's one weird looking rose!". Then I scrolled up and remembered I was making a heart. LOL!! I am astounded that it came out as good as it did on my first shot. GREAT DIRECTIONS! I will try again, and I'm sure it will look even better.
ReplyDeleteI do have one suggestion for the pattern that might help people like me: I would like to see a note to either join or not join at the end of each round. In hindsight, I don't think there were supposed to be joins, but it would be helpful to know for sure.
Thank you so much for sharing this great pattern!
Lynne
lol! Thanks so much Lynne! I'm glad you are enjoying it. And yes you're right, the rounds up until the last one are not joined. I will make a note of that. Thanks Again. Keep having fun.
ReplyDeleteHeartfully Yours,
Mia
Love your Rosy Heart patter; just wish I could make it for myself but I have no idea what 'front post (fp)' means :(
ReplyDeleteThank you! A post stitch is made by working your stitch around the body of the stitch instead of under the two top loops. There are a number of great video tutorials on YouTube like the one at this address: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TPHsb9N9zng. I hope this helps. And if you have any other questions, just let me know.
ReplyDeleteHeartfully Yours,
Mia
I did it! <3 ha. Took patience and time! Hopefully consecutive hearts will go quicker. ;) Thank you!
ReplyDeleteYay!! You are quite welcome. Yes, they go quicker as you go. Would you believe, I still find myself ripping back, double checking the pattern, and saying "what"?! Well have fun.
ReplyDeleteHeartfully Yours,
Mia
Could you PLEASE make a video show how you made this?? I just can't 'get it'.
ReplyDeleteThanks
I'm sorry Carolyn, but I don't have the necessary equipment to make a video. I look forward to being able to do so in the future. At what point are you having problems? I'd love to help.
DeleteHeartfully Yours,
Mia
I would love to make this pattern, but how can I print the pattern with the pictures? I like to print my patterns so I can write on them while I'm working on the project. I can copy and print the text but the pictures don't print.
ReplyDeleteHello,
DeleteYou may want to try right clicking on each pic and selecting print. Each one will probably have to be done separately. I'm sorry I don't have an alternate solution.
Hearts,
Mia
I create a new blank page in Microsoft Word.
DeleteGo back to the pattern page.
Hold down the Left button on the mouse & drag/highlight as much as you want.
Hold down the Right button on the mouse & click on Copy.
Return to your blank Word page.
Hold down Right mouse button & click on Paste.
You can then click on each picture & put the cursor in a corner and re-size/drag the picture to the size you want.
To copy just a picture:
DeleteRight click the mouse on the picture
Left click on the Copy Image
Go back to your Word document.
Right click and then Left click on the Paste.
Resize as desired
Your rose pattern is just beatutiful but haven't been able to master it yet will continue to try again and reading everything you have written about it. Hope I can get some done by valentines day. crocheters are the best. Kay
ReplyDeleteThank You Kay!
ReplyDeleteI would love for you to get it too. Is there something I can help with? Just let me know.
Hearts,
Mia
Hi Mia!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your pattern. I am having trouble with it...my heart is not looking like yours. May I email you a photo of mine so that you can maybe figure out what in the world I did wrong?
Thanks,
Debra (debgoulder@gmail.com)
Hi Debra,
ReplyDeleteYes, I'll be glad to help. You may email me photos at: ihearthandcrafts@aol.com
Mia: Love, love, love your pattern. My first one was really pitiful looking. Second one is wonderful. Will definitely make more.
ReplyDeleteI'm totally impressed with your thought processes that you could create this pattern
Thank you Jean!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you like it. Yeah I know what you mean. Sometimes after a period of time between making them, the first comes out a little sad, lol. Have fun!
Happy Heartful Crafting,
Mia
Hi,
ReplyDeleteI really like your heart, but when I follow your directions for the purple one, I end up with the pink one. So I'm confused...! :S
Hello,
DeleteI'm sorry, I thought I had made the proper corrections. The difference is the spiral in the center of the purple heart has less rotations than the spiral in the center of the pink one. I will go over it and let you know what I come out with.
Hearts,
Mia
Hello again,
DeleteMy apologies for taking a while. I tried to get a heart exactly like the purple one, but had no such luck. I am hoping to find my original so that I can examine it closely. I had no idea they were different, until one of you guys bought it to my attention.
Heartfully Yours,
Mia
Hi there
ReplyDeleteI am Confused about round 3 when you say that "2 fp dc around (next 2st)" what does it mean? Does i have to to make only 2 dc around next 2 sts or i have to make 2 dc in one st and 2 in other i-e total 4?????? Please help.
Hello,
DeleteYes you should make 2 front post double crochets around each of the next 2 stitches, which totals 4. Thanks for stopping by.
Hearts,
Mia
Hi,
ReplyDeleteI have been crocheting for a couple yrs. and I may not be a expert at this wonderfully relaxing craft,I'm not what some may call a novice. I found your wonderful heart on Pintrest and it's killing me that I get horribly stuck in the third row. I understand you are new to writing patterns, and Bless You for trying. I will be frank, I personaly wouldn't attempt it. I have a horrible condition for perfectionism with a touch of OCD.. LOL! I would be stir crazy trying to tutor others. I have no patience to teach. LOL! So Thank You for doing your best to teach us this beautiful heart. I have to admit most of the patterns I use have a video and I can just watch and learn. By doing so I have figured out to make 3D butterflies, flowers and even Sugar Skulls. I would "LOVE" to figure out to make this heart. Can you maybe write out a Crochet Pattern for Dummies for me to use..LOL! I have the knowledge and know how to figure out most the abbreviations used but the symbols confuse me..example, *, **, (, ) and whatnot. Please help..this heart has a wonderful swirl that fits perfect for a afghan project I have been working on.
Hi Jenskie,
DeleteMy instructions for row 3 seem to be confusing to most. I have emailed instructions that seem to help them. I think it would be a good idea to post those instructions here. Yes, while I want to share ideas and patterns, I'm not the best at putting things on paper. Yeah, this heart has is driving me a little batty, thank goodness I think it's cute. I hope to be able to do videos soon, because you are right, they are sometimes easier to follow. I can email those instructions to you and I will work on transferring them to the blog today.
Heartfully Yours,
Mia
HI Mia I really love this rosey heart pattern and my first time trying I ended up making a half heart rose I don't know what I did wrong I think when I got to the very end of the pattern I didn't quit get it. I thought by looking at the pictures it would help me understand since I am a visual learner but I guess not. I am going to try it one more time and I pray that I get it because I am making a mom and baby head warmer set for my friend on her baby shower and having this as a center piece on the ear warmer instead of the usual flower will be perfect for the occasion. I love this rose pattern so much because its so very unique thank you for sharing you have talent. Do you think by any chance you could do a video version of this wonderful rose heart? I would be so thankful if you could and if you can't I understand. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteHi Deirdre,
DeleteThank you and I'm sorry you had trouble with the pattern. Unfortunately, I am currently unable to make a video but I do look forward to making one in the future. It sounds as though you may be turning your work instead of working in continuous rounds. I hope you are able to get it. The mommy and me headbands sound like a lovely gift.
Heartully Yours,
Mia
Mia, what an adorable rose you have created! I saw it on Pinterest, which lead me here.
ReplyDeleteI've had a heck of a time completing the pattern. First, when I got to row 2, I decided that inventing what I thought "fp" meant was not a good idea. After consulting Mr. Google and a little video, I realized that this is a common crochet stitch and I have apparently been living under a rock. (A rock that did not include fp's. LOL!) The fp turned out much easier to do forward than how I was doing it (from the wrong direction). Work continued to the crucial row 3 where I again ran into trouble. I found I had skipped part of the instructions -- glasses readjustment required. In the process I had split the yarn. I had to stop to get better light.
Then, in better light, it became apparent that my gold yarn was actually mustard colored. There was a short break to find more appropriate rose colored yarn. Start over. Things went swimmingly till mid way through that challenging row 3 when the phone rang. After a 2 hour conversation with The Man, in which he basically bragged about his new giant 3D television, and that he was NOT inviting anyone over to watch the Super Bowl on it, I finally returned to row 3. Then a bit of study to figure out where I left off. Once my place was located, I quickly finished my little rose. And it's lovely!
So as you can see...nothing but trouble. LOL. (I hope you're laughing by now at my "trouble with the pattern".) All told, it took about an hour to complete, minus the interruptions. Bless you, dear Mia, for trying to solve all these problems people have posted. You have a nice pattern here that is pretty straightforward for anyone with crochet experience. Thank you so much for posting it! I will be making many of these charmers for Valentine's Day.
lol!! Too funny...what a series of happenings which I can definitely relate to. I was nervous because at first I could only see half of your comment. I was so happy and relieved to learn you had completed the heart and that you were happy with it. Oh, what we go through to get a crochet project done. It is a laugh, from trying to follow a pattern, to giving attention to those we love, we do go through a lot, but it's so worth it. Thanks so much for your lovely comments. Well, I wish you continued fun with them.
DeleteLots of Hearts,
Mia
I've got 8 of them done! I got lazy somewhere along the line and instead of breaking the yarn for that last bit, I just kept going. So I do one sweep from the middle, around the swirls and then around the outside. I just reverse the instructions for that last section. Seems to work just fine.
DeleteThanks again for this lovely pattern.
Wow, Martha in Kansas, you are moving fast :)
Deletekeep having fun
heartfully yours,
Mia
by the way, i'd really love to see them
DeleteThank-you for your gorgeous pattern. I just successfully made one and is holding a nice shape without blocking!! My biggest problem I had is being a lefty and figuring out which way to go doing the top stitching, nothing to do with your pattern, just me trying to flip the photo in my head to see how I should be doing this!
ReplyDeleteHello,
Deleteyou are quite welcome, I'm happy to hear you liked the pattern and made one, I'm in awe to hear that you did it in reverse :)
Hearts,
Mia
Greetings, Mia -- Just drowsily browsing this morning. Have to give a cheer for exploration, even when the eyelids are at half-mast, since it brought me here. This is such a lovely pattern. I could see that it's well beyond my current skill level, but rather than return to my browsing, I started reading the comments here.
ReplyDeleteWow.
I am SO impressed with your responses: you've been prompt, cheerful and helpful with every request for 'tech support' with this pattern. Bravo; you've made an instant fan.
I've been searching for creative inspiration, and I'm glad I found your blog. Looking forward to catching up with your posts. I think that with your help I'll soon be better at crocheting, and maybe sewing as well!
Hi Llyn,
DeleteI'm very glad you stopped by and happy that you like the blog. I am truly honored and grateful for your wonderful comments. So if I don't make progress on what I set out to do crafty today - which is always too much to begin with :) I'm happy to have accopmlished my most important and main goal which is to in someway help others experience the rewards of handcrafting. I am more than happy to help you in any way I can.
Heartfully Yours,
Mia
Mia, love the heart but after reading the comments, really appreciate the attention you have taken to answer each and every comment perhaps even more than the pattern! I'll come back for more ideas, great blog.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! I hope to have more for you to enjoy soon.
DeleteHearts,
Mia
Thanks for this pattern! It really looks great, very unique!
ReplyDeleteThank you, you are very welcome.
DeleteHearts,
Mia
Worked out wonderfully!! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteso glad it worked for you :) Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteHeartfully Yours,
Mia
Good afternoon! I would like to know if it is British English or American English you use for pattern? I am asking as i am not English native and there is difference in understanding of the words in pattern. Thank you in advance.
ReplyDeleteThe pattern is in American English terms. My apologies for not stating that (oops).
DeleteHappy Heartful Crafting!

Hi Mia, thanks for this excellent pattern. I am clear how to do front post stitches, but I am not clear how to do two into a single stitch. Please can you help? I have looked at sources like youtube, but can't find anything. Kind regards, David. PS - I'll have a go at recreating the Purple Heart...
ReplyDeleteHi David,
DeleteYou are very welcome. After making the first front post stitch yarn over and insert your hook around the post again in front of the first stitch so that when looking at it your hook is closest to you with the first stitch behind it. After you make the second stitch the first will be beneath the second. Oh wow, that purple one drove me a little nuts. I had to give up for a bit. Keep me posted. Have fun.
Hearts,
Mia
I LOVE this! Thanks for sharing! Will make some for my next freeform project. Dimensionality rocks!
ReplyDeleteHi Akua, You're welcome, and thanks! You I'm glad you like it.
DeleteHearts, Mia,
Used a no-ch dc to start (3 ch= dc, 2 ch= hdc)
ReplyDeleteDid 1-3 as written
Round 4 made ss in back loop (it was tight to work on top of other wise) then worked all the way around -- ended with 7sc
(A) did not break off yarn, continued working round the spiral.. made 29 sc ending with 7 hdc and ss in the center of spiral. Fo.
Did next instruction as written but ended with 19 hdc.
I really love this pattern! Thanks for sharing.
You're welcome, I know what you mean about it being tight, I'll have to try your directions, they seem easier. Thanks for stopping by.

Hello Mia
ReplyDeleteThank you for making your Rosy Heart pattern available.I have managed to arrive at the final row of completing the invisible join. The row marked A has finished a stitch before Row 4(in other words side by side)Could you please advise the correct placement,so I can complete the invisible join correctly.
Hello, you are very welcome. If things are right on my end, the last stitches of both A(those that began from the center of the spiral) and those that began from the other side of the heart should meet (there should be no stitches in between) It should be ok to just take the extra stitch out and go ahead and make the invisible join. It may just be that you started a little farther along at he begining of the spiral. Hope this helps.

dear Mia, I write you from Switzerland : I want to do this beautiful heart for my bobbin's lace teacher's birthday My heart doesn't have any pointed end... I don't know what I do wrong, as I tried twice to make it. and for th fp : I have to do as explained in the video? that means take the 2 pieces of the stitch? I thank you for having made such a beautiful heart and shared it with us!
ReplyDeleteHi Friend from Switzerland!
DeleteYou are very welcome!
for the point
(3 single crochets are made on round4 and A)at what becomes the pointed section, it also good to frequently pinch the point while blocking the completed heart
for the 2front post stitches
2fp stitches means you must make 2 front post stitches around the post of the same stitch (the second fp stitch will be on top of the first). I'm not sure what video you are referring to, but here's the url for one that shows the basics for making a front post stitch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EwwCBNQRVvI
I hope this helps. If I misunderstood your questions and you need more help, feel free to ask again. Hearts and until next time...

Love the heart. Took me several days to get one right. But now that I know how to do it, I find the pattern easy to understand. I am doing them as presents for the hippy teachers in our school. They will love them.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the pattern, and don't worry, it makes sense... if you already know it. In the beginning it is crazy confusing and I almost gave up., but I pays off to keep trying.
Hi Peggy!
ReplyDeleteI am happy you like it and glad you made it past the confusing part :)
Have fun with the rest, I hope the teacher's like them.
Hearts,
Mia
